There are times when I want a section of horizontal lines to be aligned, having to shift-i all of them is a pain. It would be great if I could run a command, then drag across a section of edges that I want to have edge alignment assigned to.

suggestion: Shift-i / drag across

Would be good to have the same command to remove edges by region.

The usual top right to bottom left vice versa would do the trick.

Cheers,

There's an option to hit "ctrl + I" on an untagged edge to tag all edges of that type. For example, if you hit "ctrl + I" on an untagged vertical edge, all other vertical edges will be tagged as a result. Repeat for the horizontal edges.

To untag all edges hit "ctrl + I" on an empty area of a uv shell.

Using this method I can quickly tag most shells within just a few seconds without much trouble.

I've just added the following, so it'll be in the next beta or full release.

Now the Ctrl-I/K keys will look to see if the adjacent polygon is marked, and if it is, then only edges on other marked polygons are tagged. See below for an example of what I mean.

I decided to go for this approach because the G marking is more flexible than just a box stretch ... you can still type G and stretch a box if you want, but you can also "paint" G selections with a variable size brush, or do fills, or select by materials or shading groups.

Oh, and one thing to remember with Crtl-I/K is that you can set the "similar" angle under Edit Settings panel. Its 30 degrees by default.

This new feature is now available in the latest beta release on your uvlayout.com Support Extras page.
