Hello Phil,
actual i have two problems with UVLayout:
1. UVLayout don't start on my Mac-pro ( OS 10.7.5 Lion )
I installed the newest Pro Version 2.08.00 the Dongle is plugged in
The information window with the Message "Starting UV Layout....." comes up for a few seconds but nothing happens. X11 is also installed but it will not be initialized by UVLayout. (I read all the related forum topics before )
Starting X11 separately and do the Mouse focus settings has also no success. So i'm a little bit frustrated and try to work now on my older Mc Book PRO under OSX 10.6.8 SNOWLEO ..... but ....

2. .... on my older Mac UVLayout is running. So far so good but the UVlayout Info Window ("About UVLayout") shows me an older Version (v2.05.01) as i have installed before (v2.08.00). I'm a little bit confused now .....
Thanks in advance.
Rossi

"The information window with the Message "Starting UV Layout....." comes up for a few seconds but nothing happens."

Sorry, I have to ask this first because its the most common cause. Do you have 2 monitors configured or plugged in, but only one turned on? UVLayout could be appearing on the other invisible screen.

"UVlayout Info Window ("About UVLayout") shows me an older Version (v2.05.01) "

That window doesn't normally lie, so I'd say the install of 2.08.00 didn't go to plan. Maybe you moved your 2.05.01 install out of the Applications folder, so the 2.08.00 install didn't replace it???

Hello Phil,
yes i have a second monitor (Wacom Cintiq) on my MacPro but the second one is always on.
The GUI isĀ“nt visible on both monitors.
(X11 is also not active after starting UVLayout.)
Whatever, the highest priority for me is to work with UVLayout on my MacPro,
so i can use it with the embedded Maya Plugin.

The mysterious behavior with the displayed installed Version on my Macbook Pro:
I had deleted the old UVLayout (from the Application Folder) before i installed the newest one. (and trash emptied)
I tried it two times and got the same result. (Is this the right uninstall methodology to delete only the UVLayout application?)
Maybe files of an older installation on another disk location?
Maybe wrong read write file authorizations? (But i installed UVL with admin rights)
Maybe a damaged installer? (or a wrong labeled installer? Wink
How can we analyse and solve the problems?

Best regards,
Rossi

Ps.: Nevertheless, UVLayout is the best program of its kind!

I've sent email with some debugging info for the "UVLayout not starting" problem.

Regarding the other problem (wrong version), its a mystery! The normal install procedure is to simply drag the UVLayout icon into the Applications folder, and that will over-write the old version.

It could be that the old copy is hiding somewhere, and its the one being launched each time. To find all copies, open up a Terminal window and type this command ...

find -x / -name uvlayout -print

That'll show you everywhere that uvlayout is installed. You'll probably get a number of "permission denied" message, so just ignore them.
