Hi Folks,
I must be missing something here. I make an object in Lightwave, assign surface and part names, save it out as a LW object. I then export same object out as an OBJ to bring into headus. Set up UVs, save out map and then save OBJ back out. Reload OBJ into Lightwave. No surface or part names remain. Do I copy/paste UV map from headus OBJ to Lightwave object, or do I transfer Lightwave surface/part names over to headus OBJ.
The only other way I figure to get my surfaces back onto the headus OBJ is to rebuild the surface and part names from scratch. I'm confused here.
Thanks.

When you save the mesh out in UVLayout, use the "Update" button instead of the "Save" button. You select the original OBJ file that you loaded into UVLayout, and it saves a copy of that with only the UVs changed (i.e. with all the material information retained).

Thanks a lot Phil. I knew it had it to be something simple. That's what usually stumps me, the simple solutions. Wow. The UV process is going to become very fast and efficient now. By the way, you folks have a great product, great customer service.
If the wife and I ever make it down under for a vacation, we would like to look you up and thank you in person. Alas, Lightwave 10 is still lacking modern, up to date UV tools and UVLayout really fills a need for me.
Thanks again.
Regards,
David Behar
