I can purchase an ether license now for 175USD.....and automatically become a professional customer (with symmetry find etc)

Yes.

and later on upgrade to dongle

Yes.

or if I upgrade computer at a later stage, have a new key generated

You can transfer the Ether license to a new PC for free for the first 12 months after purchase. After that 12 months you will need to subscribe to the support program to get further transfers, which will cost $50 per license per year, and gives you free access to software updates as well as the transfers.
