Hi Phil,
Been playing around with the proggie a bit and really enjoy it and love the fact that it really flattens with hardly any distortion when completed. I have a question for you though, and I am more than likely going to purchase the dongle version (once I save up my pennies - may take me a few months) and so here goes...: I read in the forum, that once you have the "dongle", you can then use the program on any new machine forever and ever... does that mean upgrades (when they occur) will work with that dongle? and with all the requests that you have been getting for improvements... may I make one? It would really be nice if you could select by vertice, several at a time and move them without breaking the mesh, or having to cut and weld a piece out just to move or rotate them. BTW... I love your program... and even if it ends up costing me $350 instead of $275, it will be well worth it. I have some embroidery programs that cost my mother (she is deceased now) over $1500, so all those that are complaining about costs... get a life.

OK, some fine print :-) So when you buy the dongle you'll get a permanent license for the current "major" version, that being anything in the "v1" series, and it also includes free upgrade licenses for the first year. So when we release UVLayout for real, the major version number will jump up to "v2", and all current customers will get a free permanent upgrade license. But say if we release a "v3" series in a few years time, your old permanent "v1/v2" license wont work with that, and then you'll have to buy an upgrade license if you want to run "v3". But your v1/v2 license, and so any v1/v2 install of UVLayout, will work forever and ever with the dongle.

Yes, a few other people have requested something like this too. I just added it to the "Wish List" posting.

Does that mean a new dongle? or is the dongle going to be able to be encoded via a ram burn?

No, the dongle just provides a unique identifying number, and the license is encoded to enable the software to run if that unique dongle is plugged in. Not that you probably want to, but that same dongle can be used to license our other tools too (ie CySlice, CyDir, and whatever else we come up with in the future).

You keep the same dongle for ever end ever, and all that happens when a new version of UVLayout comes out is the I generate a new license that you'd add to your keys file.

Thanks. I can't wait until I have enough money to get it. Hopefully, I'll be able to do so before the price goes up. Very Happy
