How do I save out a imge of the UVs so I can paint on it?

Once I have made my UVMap... how can I save the it as a image file to take into photoshop and pain on?

Thanks...

ALso.. I know this is stoopid, but I just am testing the software for the first time... and I did a big layout.. saved as a OBJ and loaded it and all the UVs are gone?

How do you save the file for importing back into another application?

You don't have to do anything special to save the UVs.

When loading into UVLayout though, make sure "Edit" is turned on in the Load Options window if you want to edit existing UVs. You should do that now anyway, load the OBJ you just saved back into UVLayout to double-check that the UVs are in there. If they are, then you need to check your import options in the other application.

oh right... yeah.. I had the "new" button selected!! lol

Can you assign textures inside UVLayout?

You can create new "Material" groups and assign selected polys to them, but there's no tools in UVLayout for actually defining what those materials look like.

But when you load the OBJ into your modeling/animation package, those material assignments should be preserved and then you can edit what they look like.
