Hi guys,
Just started working with the program and really like it - I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a rather difficult problem. I'm trying to UV map a model of a helmet in such a way that I can apply it as a decal. I've attached a few images of what I've tried so far (I've made three attempts). On their own the decals look reasonably close to the UV map, but there is some stretching around the vents. But when there are two - they don't seem to line up very well. Just wondering if anyone has tried something similar or any suggestions that I could try. I'm going to keep playing with it in the mean time.
Cheers.

As its main purpose is to minimize distortion when texturing, there's no constraints built into UVLayout to maintain boundary edge lengths. That's why, when you do multiple pieces, they aren't joining perfectly.
I'm not sure there's any magic answer though, because doing 1 piece means your material needs to stretch more to fit the shape.
