I'm sorry to disturb with this ordinary question ... I haven't found someone else to ask. Should I add already smoothed model to UV Layout or not(from Maya) ? Thank you for your answers

"Should I add already smoothed model to UV Layout or not"

Depends what you mean by "smoothed".

If its a subdivision surface mesh in maya, then you can import that into UVLayout at any point to work on the UVs.

If however you are actually smoothing out the mesh by increasing the number if polygons in the model, then in general its better to make the UVs before you do that smoothing out because UVLayout will run faster on a lighter mesh.

Ok, so won't be any problems with texture if I'll do it in this way ? I mean, If I'll do the UV first and than go for smoothing out the mesh ?

You should be OK, but I recommend doing a small test first, something like a cube. Make the UVs in UVLayout first, then do your smoothing, then see if the UV have been retained.

All right, thank you! Just one more question ... Could you please take a look on a picture and say, what's wrong with my character? I know, I'm beginner but I have no idea how to fix it

That could be some non-manifold edges, which is where 3 or more polygons are join along one edge (normally it should only be 2).

Select "Clean" in the load options window and it should fix those up for you.

Well I have tried "clean" already ... The only difference is that it would be colored in blue in that case. Could I go on with this ? Or it's better to reconstruct it ?

Yes, it sounds like the Clean has worked then, because its detached the extra polygons from the non-manifold edges, and the blue lines indicate a boundary edge in the geometry. See below for a diagram showing what I mean by "non-manifold edge".

Without having the mesh here and getting in real close to examine that area, I cant really say what would be the best thing to do, but I would think you can safely go ahead and make your UVs now if you wanted.
