I just tried the new UV Master for ZBrush and I have to say, the results are unbelievably good. I realize this isn't news about Headus UV Layout and it doesn't offer the type of control offered by UVL but it made a flawless even layout of a very complex sandcastle mesh that I have been struggling with for days. In one click. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right. It's crazy. Thought you'd want to see it since I know UVL and ZBrush are often involved in the same workflow/pipelines.

Thanks for the tip-off!

I'm wondering how it compares to blender's one click unwrapping?

Phil

Not sure - I never used that. But check out the one-click UVs it generated for my high-res mesh (the seams were already done in Maya and aren't the best):

Kind of crazy.

Hi...newbie here. Smile

I've used Zbrush's UVMaster plug, too. On the surface, the results are fantastic. It straightens bends and flattens clothing meshes nicely. BUT when you start texturing, you're liable to find a bit of mesh distortion.

Also, beware -- Zbrush will flip the UVs every time. Or it does for me. Simple matter to flip 'em back, of course. Smile

Not knocking Zbrush's UVMaster. It is awesome. But it's not as accurate as UVLayout. Good choice though, for someone who owns Zbrush, and hasn't decided to take the plunge with Headus. Smile

You're welcome. Smile

Like I said, not critical at all of Zbrush's UV Master. It's great.

But UVLayout is the love of my UV life. Very Happy

To chime in on the Blender question you asked about the unwrapping, this works really well in comparison especially considering the difference is 'prestige' that blender is supposedly able to provide. I don't see much difference between the two as far as functionality is concerned.
