Hello All,

UVLayout v2.06 is now available for all users from ...

http://www.uvlayout.com/update

New tools added in this version:

- Repaint : Allows you to load an old mesh and texture map
into UVLayout where you can then modify the UVs (e.g. repack,
optimize, modify seams) and repaint the old map according to the
new UVs. Supports JPG, TIF and TGA format image files. See it in action
under the Advanced section of the uvlayout.com videos. Professional
version only.

- Auto Save Preference : Select the number of minutes between
auto saves, and up to 5 files are created in a cycle (i.e. 1 to
5 and then back to 1).

Changes to existing tools:

- Display Trace : Now supports TGA format image files.

- Wheel Zoom : Added preference to disable the pan focus effect.

- Pinning : Added Ctrl-P hotkey to unpin all points in a shell.

- Symmetry Find : If it fails because of non-symmetrical topology,
the offending polys are now marked in green. This make it easier
to identify where the problem is.

- Full Name Quick Save Preference : If ticked, the tmp#.uvl,
edit##.uvl and auto#.uvl quick save files will start with the
name of the original mesh.

- Segment : Now faster on heavier meshes, and the final welding
stage can be tweaked with the Weld Gaps setting.

Bugs fixed:

- G Hotkey : Double-G to fill select doesn't always work on
heavier meshes. Added Ctrl-G as an alternate fill select.

- Space RMB : Sometimes shells disappeared if two or more were
selected when scaled.

- Detach : If the middle of a shell was detached, the remaining
pieces still behaved like they were as one, even though there was
no longer a connection.

- Calc Subdivision Targets : Fatal error crash fix.

Phil

Awesome....

I think the next step would be to add poly painting to our lovely UV Layout then I would be really happy.Just an Idea Rolling Eyes

Also, Support for PSD files would be great to go back and forth between applications like photoshop....

Sorry folks, looks like the 2.06.00 release is broken! Its throwing out fatal error crashes on the simplest of things ... shell detaches ... so I've taken the installers off of uvlayout.com until I can find and fix the bug.

Oh man and I've been waiting for this too, but never got a single email notification that anything was added in this thread. I just happened to check a few minutes ago to see if the new version was out and sure enough it is.
Good deal Phil, and thanks! Very Happy

"never got a single email notification"

I'm hoping to add an "opt in" email notification sometime soon for software updates. You'll be able to select in your uvlayout.com account what sort of emails you want to get (eg, minor updates, major updates, support expiry etc).

Oh that's cool, Phil. Very Happy
But I was just surprised because I always get emails for replies to other threads here. Just one of those things I guess, but no big deal.

BTW, 2.06.02 is definitely quite stable and working well.
Being able to select poly groups is a major improvement for sure. Very Happy

That would be sweet. I would have completely missed this great new update if not for a post in another forum.

Anyways, great work Phil!

Cheers!

Hello All,

UVLayout v2.06.03 is now available for all users.

New tools added in this version:

- R Hotkey : When in the UV view, if the topology allows, the UVs
of the selected shell will snap to an axis aligned rectangle. When
in the Ed view, the R hotkey marks revolved polys suited to
rectangular flattening. See the UVLayout-Rectangles-and-Pipes
video at uvlayout.com for details. Professional version only.

- Ctrl-\ Hotkey : Rotate a shell, not the surrounding box.

- Shift-B Hotkey : Like Shift-F, but only scales the shell up
before flattening.

Changes to existing tools:

- Groups : Both "polygon" and "material" groups are now shown.

- Render : Added shell Outline highlighting options.

- Edit : Added tear-off Edit panel, and the No MMB option. Tick
this and you can move UVs simply with the Ctrl or Shift keys,
no MMB click'n'drag required.

- Fast Weld mode : If no edge is selected, Enter will now detach
and join shells as it does outside of the Fast Weld mode.

Bugs fixed:

- Copy UVs : Crashed on OS X version if any triangles in mesh. Also
the matching stage was very slow on denser meshes.

- Pack : In some cases, holding Space to stop packing didnt work.

- Flattening : Seamless shells (e.g. closed spheres) would explode
when flattened, which would make all other flattened UVs shrink
to almost zero size.

- Display : Redraws could go missing on the OS X version, forcing
the user to do a manual redraw (e.g. LMB click) to see the results
of cut, detach and weld operations.

- Shift-V Hotkey : Was supposed to do nothing, but caused anchor
points to be drawn all over the selected shell, sometimes followed
by a crash.
