I have a gun model that's made up of many separate parts that I've attached in Max so I could export the gun out as a single OBJ. How can I pull those pieces apart in the 3D view of UVL to make it easier to work on and cut eat piece individually?

I apologize if this is covered in one of the videos, I don't recall seeing anything about it.

Possible feature idea: An Exploded View button that would take all your parts and quickly separate them for you. That would be rad!

When in the "Ed" view, you can separate parts with Space-MMB. Just move the mouse pointer over the main body of the gun and Space-MMB drag it away to the side, and all the smaller parts should be left behind.

Hmmm, an "explode" tool could be interesting ... getting it to do it nicely like your examples would be the trick though :-)

I'm sorry, Phil, that was a bone head question. I only do UV work semi-regularly ... just long enough for me to get rusty on all the UVL hot keys. I apologize, and I thank you for your time.

No problems. I'm sure others will find the answer useful too.
