Hi Phil,

Any chance to extend uvlayout with any other file fomat, like this good old .lwo for example.

I'm facing to some walls in my workflow actually.

My main software are MoI, Modo and uvlayout. And I have huge trouble to find a solution to unwarp models from MoI (moment of inspiration) and render/paint them in Modo.

MoI produce super sexy n-gones models from nurbs surface ... but .lwo is the only way to import them in Modo because Modo can't recreate ngones correctly from .obj format.

I can't use Modo to unwarp uv's because any geometry modification kill the vertex normal info, and ruin the shading. (As Uvlayout can only update uv's info, it's perfect)

... so there are few solutions :

- Waiting to have a good .obj import in modo
- Waiting for an update of the modo uv workflow (so vertex normals arent affected by any uv's job)
- Waiting uvlayout to have a option to import/save .lwo

As an extra note, the one uv channel limitation from .obj format is also a little bit annoying in 2010 Razz

I know I'm not using comm softwares here, but maybe it will help some other peoples looking for the same workflow.

Thanks for you time.

Have you had a look at Blender? Its a free 3d modeling application that (according to the web page) will read LWO and write out OBJ.

Have you tried the Modo UVLayout Plugin ? That way you can import the model from MOI to Modo using .lwo and then use the plugin to unwrap the UVs in Modo.

Wonderfull, the modo plugin works perfectly and keep my vertex normal info safe, that's so great.

Thanks a lot.
