Hi, I recently downloaded the UVLayout demo, but I can't seem to load any high poly meshes. The program crashes automatically... all I can load is half a head, basic geometric figures etc, nothing more.. Any ideas what might be wrong? Im working on Vista 64 bit, 4 GB RAM, if that helps in anything...
Thanks in advance!

Does it generate any error messages?

Oh, and how many polys are there in your high poly meshes? I'm currently using a 100,000 poly mesh as a test case for optimizing the Segment tool, and that's what I'd call high for UVLayout.

The only message is "headus 3D Applications Core has stopped working". As for the meshes, well they're actually not all that high, it works well at around 500 polys, but once I throw in something with even 2000-2500 polys, it crashes.

Can you email one of those 2k meshes? Maybe there's something about the topology, or the OBJ file or something that's causing the problem, because those aren't big at all.

Here's a 5k mesh from a tutorial cd and it won't load even if I check the "clean" option. Plus I tried many different models from tutorial cds (so they should be good), as well as my own, and even just a simple sphere straight from maya..

Thanks! As a quick test I was able to load it fine on my dev machine (a linux box). A simple maya sphere should be fine too! Maybe something got corrupted in your install ... try uninstalling what you have there, download and reinstall the Demo again.

I tried that a couple of times but it didn't do the trick. Thanks for helping anyways, I guess I'll have to try it on another computer. But if you have any new ideas what the problem might be, then let me know, thanks!

Loaded fine for me, and I have yet to install the update from 2.05.01 (I have it, just have not installed it) This is on a Vista 64 box. Note also it loaded straight from drag & drop. No clean option needed.

Thanks for the extra info! The current Demo is based on an early version of the not yet released v2.06.00, so its possible the bug is a brand new one. Early next week I'll upload a new Demo based on the latest (almost ready to release) v2.06.00 code, see if that helps.
