problems when dropping shells into uv mode

Hi, im having problems once pieces of my model are dropped into the uv space... they seem to show up as wierd camera angles or somthing... My models head looks as if im looking down on it and my torso is upside down and turned around...its wierd does anyone know what to do?

OK, once you've dropped the shells you need to flatten them out, and Shift-F is the best way to start that with overlapping meshes like the ones you have. It'll pull the seams out to circle, and then you tap Space after a while to let it relax back into a more natural shape. Pretty much the initial orientation of the dropped shells is irrelevant, so there's no need to worry if it looks odd ... thats not going to be the final UVs.

I wouldn't recommend trying to do everything at once though. If you detach the arms and legs, flatten them separately to the torso, then weld it all back together, I think you'll get a result much quicker.
