Copy Uvs workflow?

Hi, I tried to copy uvs from 2 different mesh who got almost the same topology but I can't get it to works.

That's the basic workflow that I don't understand, how do you import a second mesh in UVLayout?

I tried to merge both mesh together in max but that's not the easiest way to do it.
I probably miss something but it is not explain in videos.

UVLayout gives you a couple of ways to copy UVs:

1) Using the "Copy UVs" tool. This lets you copy UVs between different parts of a single OBJ file. It'll copy UVs even if the two selected shells don't have exactly the same topology; the unmatched polys are detached and can be dealt with in other ways. It sounds like you probably want to use this method, so you'll need to combine your 2 meshes into the one OBJ file before loading them into UVLayout.

2) Using the "Reshape" tool. This lets you copy UVs between a pair of OBJ files, but the topologies have to match exactly.

Videos for both of these methods can be found under the "Advanced" videos menu at uvlayout.com.

Thanks for your answer, I didn't know about Reshape.
But How do you prepare your scene in an other software?
How can you got one mesh with virgin UVs and the other with wanted UVs?

That's what I don't understand, that's not how to copy Uvs because the video explained it well, but they start with both mesh imported.

Btw I resolve my problem by doing the Uvs, and modifying my mesh in 3Dsmax ( I just had to move some poles on my topology, so it doesn't modify the UVs), but I still want to know the process above.

Exactly how depends on the software, and I only know Maya, but it shouldn't be hard. What you need to do is to load the two meshes, place them next to each other but not overlapping, and save out the scene as OBJ. It doesn't matter what UVs the second mesh has, or even if it has any at all.
