Hey there, just working on a characters' feet and it's toes are actually intersecting with one another, making it very difficult to see. Is there any way to make the edges more visible so I can see what I am selecting? Thanks,

There's a couple of things you can do in these situations ...

- Use the Home key to focus the camera onto one of the polys in the crevice, zoom in, then spin the camera around ... if you are close enough, you'll end up inside the mesh and will be able to see the concealed edges more clearly.

- Or press and hold the G key to paint polys on one side of the split line, then detach them with Enter.

imho what the problem really lacks is:

1. Xray
2. good control of camera/object
(3. a better layout..)

First two would make this problem a lot easier.

"1. Xray"

True, and it has been requested before. I think your request might be the last straw, so I'll have a look at it for the next release!

"2. good control of camera/object"

Do you have a wheel mouse? If you aim the mouse pointer at some part of the mesh, and roll the wheel, it'll not only zoom in, but will move the camera pivot to that area as well. This makes it easier to focus in on a particular area.

Is this the sort of thing you meant by "X-Ray" mode? I've implemented a slider in the Display panel, and as you push it to the left, the mesh gradually gets more and more transparent until its totally wireframe. Some fog is also blended in so that when in total wireframe mode, you aren't completely overloaded with a jumble of lines.

Looks great ... I'm not sure about the fog, seems to be a smart idea indeed, but I have to play with it to be sure Smile

I suppose it will help to see selected polys a little bit better, because actually I have some trouble with that, as I don't really see the green color in dark shaded area. (Maybe rising up the self-illumination channel for selected polys will also help a lot)

Here's a little illustration about what I'm talking about:
I have done the same kind of selection in silo and uvlayout, as you can see poly selection in silo are still visible in shadow area, and not visible anymore in uvlayout.

A little ambiant light could help also to avoid complete dark area, but it's not really important anyway.

Thanks for the example! You've done a good job there of highlighting the lack of highlighting :-) I'll add this to my list.

Oh, and as far as the xray mode goes ... I had an idea that maybe hiding front facing faces could be a useful option ... I'll upload some pics when I've had a chance to test the idea out.

OK, the X-Ray mode is now available in the Demo and all purchased versions. Details are here ... http://www.headus.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=3348#3348

Sorry, I forgot the highlighting glow in the dark thing, but I'll take a look at it later this week.

The "highlighting glow in the dark thing" is now working, and will be in the next release.
