Hello All,

UVLayout v2.01 is now available for Professional users from ...

http://www.uvlayout.com/update

New features added in this version:

- Copy UVs : With this tool you can copy UVs between already
flattened shells, or from a flattened shell onto one or more
unflattened matching objects in a mesh. Copying to mirror imaged
shells and objects is also supported. A video showing this in action
can be found under the Advanced videos at www.uvlayout.com/videos

Phil

Hello All,

UVLayout v2.01.01 is now available for Professional users.

Changes to existing features:

- The I and K hotkey straightening now works on shell boundaries
as well as internal edges.

- Typing Shift-S on a symmetrical object that has no cut edges
already tagged will tag the symmetry plane edges. Use Enter after
that to split the object down the middle.

Bugs fixed:

- In some situations, unused UVs with strange values were saved
into the exported OBJ files.

- Access to a web browser under Linux (i.e. to read the User
Guide and to check for updates) is now controlled via a 'browser'
script in the install 'bin' directory.

Nice one Phil, been looking forward to this one going in. Using s to straighten edges can be useful but this seems a more efficient way of doing the job.

p.s. Been extremely busy in the middle of a crunch so I haven't been able to give feedback on this one but, I noticed a few things from the 'iuvlayout-pro-2.00.07' update .
The new Picking option using Shift in the 3D window works well to highlight and move shells around in the UV window, but if you hit HOME in empty space it focuses on all elements in the viewport regardless of whether they are selected or not. A useful change might be:

- If nothing is selected and you hit HOME in empty space would focus on all shells
- If shells are selected and you hit HOME in empty space would focus on selected

- This method would apply to both the UV & 3D windows.

Would really help in isolating those stray and hidden shells

Great job on the updates

Cheers

"- If shells are selected and you hit HOME in empty space would focus on selected "

Good suggestion! It'll be in the next release, which could be next week sometime.

Hello All,

UVLayout v2.01.02 is now available for all users.

Changes to existing features:

- The Ctrl-I and Ctrl-K hotkeys can now be used to tag all
similarly oriented edges in a shell. Use with care.

- The Shift-F hotkey will now only process each step for a maximum
of 1 minute. This is to avoid any potential "Space not detected"
infinite loop problems.

- The Home hotkey will now focus on LMB picked shells when aimed
at the background. If no shells are picked, it reverts to focusing
on all visible shells.

Bugs fixed:

- Some of the I and K hotkey actions had no undo.

- The Shift-F hotkey first stage would "explode" the shell in
certain situations.

- The hiding of G hotkey marked faces was broken.

Hello All,

UVLayout v2.01.03 is now available for Professional users.

New features added in this version:

- If you have a wheel mouse, you can now roll the wheel to zoom
the view in and out. This incorporates a panning effect too,
so position the mouse pointer in the window to zoom towards a
specific area.

Changes to existing features:

- The "Edge Extend" button has been renamed to "Untag Edges". It
does exactly the same thing, but now says what it does.

- The C, W and Enter hotkey actions are now more homogeneous across
the Ed and UV views. This means, for example, that C will now
tag edge loops in the UV view, just like it does in the Ed view.

- The Enter hotkey will now split open seams as well as detach
shells. This makes the Shift-S split redundant, but its been left
in for those who are used to using it.

- If the Copy UVs tool fails because of mismatched topology, the
matching polys are now marked. This means you have the option
to detach those two groups for a second copy attempt, and the
remaining unmatched polys can be dealt with by normal flattening.
To see this in action, look for "Copy-UVs-2" under the Advanced
videos at www.uvlayout.com/videos
