I am using Maya 8.5. I exported from Maya with an OBJ. Now the file format is saved as UVL, the native format of UVLayout. How do I export from UVLayout back into Maya? What is the process? I can't seem to find any definitive information on the subject. |

Never mind, I think I found it. It is the update button. |

Yep, the Update button will make a copy of the original OBJ, retaining normals and shading groups etc, changing only the UVs. The Save button can also be used to save OBJs out (just add .obj to the filename to make it do that), but it'll be a basic OBJ without all that other information.
Actually, as it happens, I just made a video that mentions this ... it'll be up on the videos page sometime later today.

SWEET! I am done with my UV's! It works like a charm. Now on to ZBrush! This is the most useful program ever! I am texture artist mainly and I hate UV's.
I am sure that video will help out lots of people. |
