This is probably a stupid question.
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else already, but I dont have the time to really search for it.
Is it possible to layout one half of a mesh and then just mirror that one over to the over side, so its perfectly the same? What ever I do I cant seem to get both halves to look the same. They are always different.
Thanks folks.

If you mark the symmetry on the mesh then if you hover your mouse over a shell and tap "S" it'll make the left and right side UVs the same (symmetrical) for the selected shell.

Sometimes I "cheat" and delete one half of the mesh before I export to .obj. Then I only map 1/2 of the mesh and mirror it in my 3D app afterwards. This usually works well for non organic models.

Thanks a lot for your answer, Relayer. That will help.

THe "cheating" method you are mentioning was the next thing I had in mind as well. How about organic models? What are the issues with that method other than a seam right down the middle? Has anyone using XSI done this? I mean, does it work this way perhaps: Layout half of the uv's in UVL, export the obj this way and then in XSI mirror the uv's over? I am clearly looking for ways to save time. lol

Like Relayer says, the "Symmetry Find" tool is the one you want to use. There's
a video for that at uvlayout.com/videos, under the Advanced Tools section.
