I'm using the latest Headus right now.
Window build: 2007/08/03.

first problem, it keeps crashing over and over and over so I had to save everytime i flatten one part.

I finished mapping it out. I saved it as out as file.obj.
Tried to open it in maya, but it doesnt appear.

The only thing that appears in maya, which is in the outline editor is an object file
that reads headusOBJexport.
That's the only thing that appear, it has no data in it.

How do I open or fix this?

" it keeps crashing over and over and over "

Do you get any error messages?

nope, no error messages in maya. I figured it might have been missing a shader, so I selected it in the outliner, but it doesn't even show up.

I didn't get any error messages when it crashed. It just closed the working window, and the tool menu stays there.

as for importing it into maya, only thing you can see are the uv layouts, no models. :/

I'm going to try and go back one version to see if it helps.

Seems that I need to take parts of my model in at a time to unwrap. It doesn't work at all when I put my whole model in. Plus, even with the pieces, it still doesn't work sometimes. It's really frustrating. Which one is the best working version?

Can you email me one of your OBJ files? Its sounding like there's something in them thats causing UVLayout to crash.

Yeah sure, I'll send you my OBJ file. I found a way around this, but it is extremely time consuming. Instead of clicking the numbers to save my progress, I click save, and save it as a obj file. I give it a number everytime I save it, if it crashes, I know it doesn't work in maya. If it doesn't crash, it works. I do it step by step so that I know what works and what doesn't. Anyways im using the 3rd version from the latest, and each time it crashes, it gives me this :

"uvlayout v1.20.3 2007/07/23 15:49:41

Please save this file as it may hold crucial details
on what caused the crash, and that helps us to
fix the bugs and make better software. Thanks!"

I know it doesn't work when it does that, so I delete the file and start back from my last save point.

Thanks for posting the stack dump! The fact that it wasn't giving any sort of error was unusual. You probably don't need to send me that OBJ now because I think I know what the problem is. Read this posting for a possible solution ...

Update: Just got your OBJ in email. Loads fine here, so it probably is the problem as described in the above posting.

Hmm I don't understand the problem. Does it have something to do with my liscense? I applied for this license a few months ago and it still works so I never asked for a renewel. How would I remove everything? Delete them from the root file after uninstalling? And can you email me another license? Thanks in advance Phil. Smile
