Hi Guys!

Been using the beta alot and I'm loving it. I'm surprised more people aren't using this awesome tool. Actually makes UV'ing fun for me.

Anyways, here's one thing I"m really stuck on.

I've seperated a shell off my model and dropped it down into UV view, and flattened it.
Later on, i realised that I should have cut an internal section of the shell off to uv it in a different way.

I can't undrop that shell piece, and neither can i cut edges up INSIDE the shell in the uv view. I know cutting can only start at the edges. So how can i seperate another shell ( smaller shell )from within the original large shell?

Thanks in advance.

Try using the "G" hotkey to mark the area you want to separate and, with your mouse hovering over the selected area, hit "enter". Then with "Space+MMB" you can move the detached piece.

The other option, if this doesn't work, is to cut into the shell from an edge to get to the area that you want to remove, cut the area out, and then weld the cut edge back together.

Yes, use the G key to mark and detach ... you can do the marking from the "3D" view too, then switch back to the "UV" view to detach.

But you should also be able to undrop that shell with Shift-D.

Hey thanks guys,

I found out about the Shift D undrop last night . But didn't know about the marking and detach. Very awesome indeed.

Cheers,
