hi everyone..

this is my first post here , I've been playing with UVlayout for a few days and it's already a total addiction Smile

I have a few remarks/comments/questions and this seems to be the good place for it
so here it goes ...

-it would be nice to have an icon for the global axis X/Y/Z in Ed View and/or 3DView.

-a wireframe mode and a constant shaded mode (ie no lights) would be nice too.

-is there a way , in EdView to unselect all edges (red and yellow) for a fresh restart ?
-pressing Shift-F in UV View on a shell always frames the window on the shell , is there a way to avoid that ?

-when saving .obj file , the name of the original object is reseted to headusObjexport (o name) in the .obj file.It would be nice to keep the names consistent from the input obj .
edit : Update seems to be the way , just found it.

-I'm currently working between Houdini and UVlayout.
in Houdini : LMB rotates , MMB zoom , RMB pans , so constantly switching from one another is quite disturbing.maybe it could be a preference thing ...
(In XSI : LMB pans,MMB,zooms,RMB rotates ! )

-finally , I guess it already has been asked a zillion times , but some auto packing tools would be terrific.

kudos to all the team for this great software.
cheers

luc

Thanks for your feedback!

OK, pretty easy to add. I've added it to my job tracker!

-a wireframe mode and a constant shaded mode (ie no lights) ...
You can move the light to the front with the Light slider under the Display panel, and you can turn it on and off by clicking on the Light button itself. We are also hoping to add some sort of xray/wireframe mode too. You can see that on the wish list already at http://www.headus.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=19

-is there a way , in EdView to unselect all edges
Yes, click on the Edge Extend button.

-pressing Shift-F in UV View on a shell always frames the window on the shell , is there a way to avoid that ?
Not currently ... just wondering why you don't want it to do that?

- maybe it could be a preference thing ... (In XSI : LMB pans,MMB,zooms,RMB rotates ! )
Yes, we do hope to add editing of hotkeys and mouse actions at some point.

- ... but some auto packing tools would be terrific.
Coming soon! I'm about half way through the Undo, then the packing is next.

Phil

well I was working on an object with a lot of simple shells (veins network).
so I first cut/detach all pieces , send them all to UVview.
then in UVview , I wanted to relax them and pack them quickly at the same time..
the fact that it frames automatically was a bit annoying in this case.
edit : in fact "run for" is what I needed ... so forget about this one.

btw , it would be nice to have a shortcut to frame the UV square totally , not just only the UV's bbox

cheers
