Hello, I don't know what is the problem, but on attached model UVLayout just keep crashing after 20-30 sec of work. Without usual dump files generation.

I am using Avast antivirus and Comodo firewall, and I think they can cause UVLayout to crash (but I'm not sure of this).

Thanks.

P.S.: I am using last november beta.

Thanks for uploading the file. I couldn't see anything wrong with it though, and I was able to work with it without any problems.

Are you doing anything in particular when it crashes?

Is it just this file, or any mesh that you work with?

It was happened to any mesh I was working on, I think.

I think it's because of my antivirus. UVlayout is using a couple of "modules" when you are working with it, and my antivirus can somehow disturb their work.

I'm just doing something in UV edit mode, nothing special, when UVLayout crashing. I have tried to capture this crash, when no dump files are generated, but have no success:

In this video I'm having other kind of crashing. Which is pretty frequent too.

Thanks for the video! I must say it was interesting watching someone else use UVLayout for a change :-)

OK, so it looks like you're getting a stack dump each time it crashes. You could have cut'n'pasted the text and posted that instead of going to the trouble of making a video. Actually, next time it happens, can you do that? Then I can run it through my stack dump analyzer to find out where the problem is.

Yep, I'm going to post dump files next time, but the problem is, that sometimes UVLayout is crashing without their generation! And it's the most bad cases, because you can do almost nothing and it just crashes.

Ok, I have got another crash on my face model, and I am attaching the dump file.

Also, I have got this strange crash, when no dump files are generating. I am attaching the screen of error and the file from Temp folder, which was referenced in See more of Error window.

Hope it helps.

I had a look at the stack dump, and its a similar problem to the one described in this posting ...

http://www.headus.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=202

I've never been able to replicate the problem here, but the solution described in the that thread seems to work. Try it and let me know if you continue to have problems.

Yeah, looks like that was a problem Smile I have some thoughts about unnecessary symbols in keys files, but have no time to check them.
Works OK now (without this strange crashes)! There was a space in the end of the last keys stroke.

But got another kind of crash when I have pressed Optimize button:
uvlayout v1.16.2 2006/11/23 16:57:11

Sorry, missed that second stack dump posting! So it looks like its crashing in the same spot and your edits didn't fix it. Email me your keys.txt file and I'll see if it does the same thing here.

BTW, sorry for posting in this thread, but I don't want to start a new one because of simple question.
Shift+S is used to define split loops, but it doesn't work for me on straight edges (box for example). What is the way to split such edges directly in UVLayout? (I know how to do it in host app)

Thanks.

Shift-S will split open a tube shape, but not a completely closed surface. It needs to be able to cut in from an existing edge to work. That doesn't stop you from detaching pieces using the Enter key though ... that always works with closed surfaces, as long as the tagged cut edges form a closed loop on the surface.
