Here is the Maya 3 sample scene. Some points to note:
1) |
Previous versions of the maya scene included both color and dirt
maps. We've now simplified that and included just the dirt maps to
make them clearer. These dirt maps are calculated automatically by
CySlice, and indicate the depth into crevices at each point on the
surface. The idea is that more dirt collects in crevices (e.g. inside
ears, between toes), and so these areas should be darker.
|
2) |
To keep the ZIP file size down, the TIFF texture maps are half size
and 8-bit. The displacement maps would normally be 16-bit.
|
3) |
"Feature Displacement" is turned off. When turned on, our copy of the
Maya 3 batch renderer crashes, with an illegal instruction, about 5%
into the image. Its a pity, because the displacement textures would
look much better with it on! In the ZIP file are a couple of MEL
scripts that you can source to turn the feature displacement on and
off.
|
4) |
If Maya is having problems finding the texture maps, you can source
_SGs.mel in the Maps-new
directory to redefine all the
shading groups. These shading group MEL scripts are automatically
generated by CySlice, and are built from template files that the user
can modify to their own requirements.

If anyone out there puts a skeleton into Killeroo and does some
animation, we would be very interested to see it. By the way,
Killeroo would hop, not walk or run.
