Figure 290. Flow Markers Tool

Where the splitting and trimming tools are used to line up start and end points, the flow markers tool (see Figure 290) is used to line up internal points.

Figure 291. Default Even Interpolation

Figure 291 shows the default interpolation case, where each slice line (shown on the left) is evenly divided, and the knot lines of the resulting lofted surface are evenly spaced (right side).

Figure 292. Attaching Flow Markers

Flow markers give you more control over the flow of the resulting lofted surface. The left side of Figure 292 shows a curved slice drawn across the series of straight slices, and the image in the right shows the result of picking that curve and clicking on Attach in the Flow Markers window; the flow markers show up as small yellow crosses.

Control points are even distributed between flow markers and the beginning and end of a curve. In the above case where there's only one flow marker per line, control points are even distributed equally to each side of the flow marker.

Figure 293. Adjusted Flow in Lofted Surface

Figure 293 shows the knot lines of the resulting lofted surface, half on one side of the flow markers, and half on the other.

Flow markers can be removed from a line by first picking it, then click on the Remove button in the Flow Markers window.
