[prev] Drawn Slices [next]

Another way of creating slice lines is by drawing them onto the mesh.

Again, the first thing you have to do is change your view of the mesh. You will be drawing lines in the CySlice Display window that are projected onto the mesh in the direction that you are looking.

Then you need to select drawing mode; click on the Draw choice (see Figure 253). Now, when you hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse, you will draw a line. Performing this same mouse action with View selected would only cause the view to rotate around.

Once you have drawn one line, the mouse action automatically changes back to View. Select Draw again if you want to draw more lines from the same view.

Alternatively, once Draw has been selected, use the middle mouse button to draw the lines. The Draw button will stay selected until you either select View, or you click once with the left mouse button.

NOTE for users with 2 button mice: your second, or right, mouse button is considered by CySlice to be a middle mouse button. So when asked to use your middle mouse button, just use the right mouse button.

A quick way of selected the different mouse actions is with the <z>, <x> and <c> keys. Make sure the mouse pointer is in the CySlice Display window when you type them.

Figure 254. Drawing Direction

The slice lines are created in the same direction that you draw. If you want a group of slice lines to go in the same direction, draw your projection lines in the same direction (see Figure 254).

Figure 255. Drawn Slices

Once you have drawn some slices you can easily change the view to see what they look like (see Figure 255).

It's worth remembering that everything underneath the line you draw is sliced. Not only are the visible surfaces sliced, but all the obscured surfaces are too. If you want to restrict the slicing to a particular area of the mesh, hide everything else (see the Hiding chapter).
